05-11-'15: Day nine
Oops, I nearly forgot to write a blog today! We went to the office again this morning. We had just started putting data in Excel, when Sarah, Megan, John and Kim came up to us. They had bought us a huge cake, with frosting spelling "Thank you Iris and Myrthe" (it actually said "Mrythe", the bakery people misspelled it) and they gave us both a card, in which they had all written something nice. It was so nice of them!! They had also added a gift card. When we all ate some cake, we went back to work. For the remaining of the morning, we organised the cabinets in the kitchen/printer room. We went to have lunch at Jimmy John's. We both had a lettuce wrap, which is like a regular wrap, only instead of the tortilla, they used lettuce. It is like a portable salad! After lunch, we went back to the office to finish organising the cabinets. Then, John brought us to the Taylor unit again. Today, I played a game with two of the girls from the club. Dennis and Becky picked us up and they took us to the baseball stadium, where we attended a baseball game; the Cedar Rapids Kernels were playing. At the game, we ate a hotdog, which is of course typical baseball game-food. The Kernels played great and the game itself was awesome. Something that differs a lot from Dutch sport matches, is all the extra stuff around it. The mascot, people throwing T-shirts at the audience and all kinds of competitions in between; a recycle race, a race between three people wearing a pizza slice costume and a competition in which they would shoot fish up in the air with a sling shot and someone from the audience had to catch them with a net. We left the game a little early, because it was pretty cold (yes, the Kernels won) and went back home. After playing Euchre for a little while, we all decided to go to bed. Good night!
