05-10-'15: Day eight
Mother's day! And since Becky is kind of our mom while we are staying here, Myrthe and I decided to buy her something. We did so yesterday, but we did not want Becky to find out, which is why we didn't blog about it yesterday. Right before breakfast, we went to give her our presents. After breakfast (toast with bacon and the Czech pastries we bought yesterday, called Kolaches. I had an apple-flavoured one, but the bakery also had cherry, blueberry, lemon, pear, pineapple, chocolate, apricot and cream cheese.) Becky went to visit her mother and they went to the casino. In the meantime, Dennis, Myrthe and I tidied and cleaned the kitchen/living room, for Becky's brother, his wife and daughter and Becky's mom were coming over later today for a mother's day dinner. When we finished cleaning, we went to Walmart again, to shop a little, whilst Dennis picked up some last things for dinner. We tried to find the weirdest products and the biggest packages. Things like cheeseburger Pringles, 5 litre flasks of olive oil and cake mix for bright pink cake. Yes, we did buy food. Again. Chocolate this time. :P Dennis picked us up again and we went back home. Myrthe and I decided it was time to finish our FOA, which we did. When we had finished, we still had another hour before the guests arrived, so we skyped with mom and dad (it was mother's day after all). It was very nice to speak to them and see their faces. We also joined in Dennis' skype call with his son, who, together with our dad, formed the connection between us ans Dennis and Becky in the first place. Around 3, the guests arrived. Becky's mom, brother, sister-in-law, niece and their dog. We had steak, chicken or hamburgers, salad, fresh asparagus from the garden and rolls. For dessert, Becky's niece made an upside-down pineapple cake, which was really good. When we finished eating, everyone went back home and we had cleaned up, we decided to play some more games: first Sequel, won by Becky and me, and then Cranium (I believe..), again won by Becky and me. After that, we all went to bed, as we were tired and we need to be at the office again tomorrow. Therefore, off to sleep! See you tomorrow!
