Today was our last full day in Cedar Rapids. We got up a little earlier than usual and we hopped in the car to go to Dennis' family's cabin, near the border between Iowa and Wisconsin. On our way there, we stopped at a little bakery, where we got some donuts for breakfast. Becky brought some Trivia cards and was quizzing us while we were driving. When we arrived at the cabin, we got to meet Dennis' sister, whose cabin is right across the street from Dennis' family's (and as she is part of the family, it is her cabin too). After that, we started to prepare the boat. When we had done so, it was time to put the boat in the water and we took off! From the boat, we could see several nests with baby eagles in them, which was really cool. After that, we tried to catch some fish. Unfortunately, they would not bite.. After a while we returned to the car and continued our journey through the Iowan hills and forests. After a stop at a cafe to get some wings and cheese curds, we went to the village Dennis grew up in and we met two of his sisters and their families and his uncle and aunt. One of his sisters owns a dairy farm. We got to take a look at the cows and got to feed the youngest one, who was just over 3 weeks old. On our way back to Cedar Rapids, we stopped to get ice cream. Back at home, we baked oatmeal and chocolate chip cookies together with Becky. Then we ordered pizza (supreme and taco pizza) and played some cards. We packed our suitcases too, which was quite the struggle... Tomorrow at two, our plane to Chicago will take off and Sunday morning, we will be back at home. See you tomorrow!
